Today’s Legacy Program Hybridizer is no stranger to most dahlia lovers in the U.S., as her stunning creations have been melting the hearts of gardeners and florists alike for years! Kristine Albrecht, founder of Santa Cruz Dahlias, started growing dahlias in 2006, and her focus and passion has become hybridizing new dahlia varieties. She has generated over 50 new dahlia varieties, all of which start with her initials (KA’s), and we are honored to feature several of her creations as part of our Legacy Program this coming year. (You can see the varieties and read descriptions in our online store now!)
Kristine and her husband Brion Sprinsock just released a new book Dahlias from Seed to Bloom: The Dahlia Lover’s Companion, which is a generous, information-packed, and beautiful tome, this new resource will be a treasure for any dahlia gardener, as are all of the KA’s dahlia varieties.

So what is Triple Wren Farms’ Legacy Program? We’re glad you asked! ???? We help hybridizers by growing out their creations on a large scale and marketing their dahlias to our customers all over the U.S. For every Legacy Collection dahlia you purchase from Triple Wren Farms, we have committed to send a portion of that sale back to the original hybridizer every year, from every sale. We have worked hard to provide the hybridizers represented in our Legacy Collection with fair compensation for their craft, and have freed them up from the task of producing large, salable quantities of their varieties so that they can focus on creating the spectacular dahlias we all love and enjoy.
We’re also looking for new hybridizers to add to our program in future years. We want to unlock the treasury of dahlia creations from the past, and pave a path to success for future growers.
