At Triple Wren, we are passionate about doing good in our industry by not only the way we grow, but by the way we help others grow. We’ve been given an incredible heritage of dahlia beauty to use and enjoy, and in keeping with the core values of Triple Wren Farms, we intentionally seek to honor the rich heritage of dahlia gardening and breeding. Beginning in September, 2019, we established a new Triple Wren Legacy Collection of dahlias that will expand every year. Through the Legacy Collection, we pledge to:
1. Make more varieties from local hybridizers visible and available to a wider audience, and
2. Be an industry leader in standardizing a royalty payment program for these original creators.
This means that we have since added hundreds of new dahlias to our store, listed the names of the dahlia hybridizers on each Legacy dahlia description, and that we pledge to give back a portion of sales from the dahlias in this Legacy Collection directly to the original hybridizers, every year, from every sale.
We have worked hard to provide the hybridizers represented in our Legacy Collection with fair compensation for their craft, and have freed them up from the task of producing large, salable quantities of their varieties so that they can focus on creating. We celebrate and respect them for their unique contributions to the beautiful world of dahlias!
To the original creators who have walked before us, we say from the bottom of our hearts: thank you. We appreciate you. We value you, and your work, and the legacy you are leaving us to enjoy.
As Triple Wren grows, it is our plan to expand the benefits of our Legacy Collection in the coming years, to all of Washington state, then the broader PNW, and eventually further afield. We are now in our tenth growing season, and when we look back at what we have accomplished in the past decade, we are proud to see the results of our hard work and diligent planning, but those are not the only two ingredients to our success. We have been deeply blessed by God’s grace and by the generosity of friends and colleagues.
We are passionate about mirroring that generosity, and are establishing within our company a tradition of gratitude and respect for the original creators of the dahlias we grow and sell to gardeners around the United States.
