These two beautiful dahlias, one from Santa Cruz Dahlias and another from Noni Morrison (creator of the Salish dahlia series) are two of our farm favorite varieties. Side by side, they are are quite easy to tell apart, but separately, especially in photos, they are remarkably similar!

KAβs Cafe Mauve is a gorgeous, 6″-7″ mocha colored formal decorative dahlia with raspberry-mauve flashbacks. Salish Twilight Girl is also a formal decorative dahlia with consistent 3″-3.5″ blooms in porcelain white with purple-mauve flashbacks. KA’s Cafe Mauve is a shorter plant for us, and produces fewer of its larger blooms overall than Salish Twilight Girl which is an extremely productive variety.
Steve and I have curated the 700-ish named varieties we’re growing in 2023 in our fields so that it’s not only gorgeous, but also so we can have incredible genetic diversity here. We have loads varieties available to compare blooms side by side for height, and vigor, and to observe how they change throughout the season, and to observe the different hybridizers’ traits and preferences.
