These two glorious dahlias, Ms Honey (a 2024 introduction from Steve and Sandy Boley of Birch Bay Dahlias), and Rose Toscano (a 1991 introduction by U.S. Hybridizers H & B Brown), are super fun to compare. Side by side, they are are quite easy to tell apart, but the have some special similarities!

Ms Honey is more of a tawny-peach color, while Rose Toscano is more of a rosy-peach color. Both are mini ball form dahlias, about 2″-2.5″, but Ms Honey has a tighter petal formation and Rose Toscano has looser, softer, slightly pointed petals. Ms. Honey has a slightly taller habit, but both are very productive bloomers and tuber-producers,

Steve and I have curated the 700-ish named varieties we’re growing here in 2023 so that our fields are not only gorgeous, but also so we can have incredible genetic diversity here. We have loads varieties available to compare blooms side by side for height, and vigor, and to observe how they change throughout the season, and to observe the different hybridizers’ traits and preferences. We’d love to welcome you to a farm during the summer, so you can “bathe” in the beauty and see for yourself how everything compares!
