Today we’d like to introduce you to another talented hybridizer: Jean Heeringa. We feel blessed to know her, as she brings so much joy and beauty into the world, and love having her as part of Triple Wren’s Legacy Program.

Jean and her late husband Ronald created the stunning Vista series of dahlias, including Vista Pet, Vista Minnie (Jean’s favorite hybrid – named after her mother), Vista Char, Vista Cody, Vista Jake, Vista Whitney, and many more incredibly beautiful blooms.
For over 40 years, Jean has been hybridizing dahlias, and she still plants seeds, looking for stand-out seedlings to cultivate and name. She is a avid baseball fan who almost never misses a Mariner’s game.⚾ The first Vista dahlia (1999), “Vista A-Rod” reflects her passion. According to Jean however, she’s still waiting on a dahlia good enough to name for Ken Griffey, Jr.! We feel so honored to work with her to get her creations further into the world. (Also, if you enjoy the dahlia Bloomquist Jean, you might enjoy knowing it was named for Jean Heeringa, who is such a precious soul and a dear friend to the Bloomquists, that it is no surprise she was honored in this way.)

At Triple Wren we grow out hybridizers’ creations on a large scale and market their dahlias to our customers all over the U.S. and Canada. This lets hybridizers keep on creating while we do the selling and cultivating, giving them more time to make more beauty to share in the world.
So what is Triple Wren Farms’ Legacy Program? I’m glad you asked! ???? We help hybridizers by growing out their creations on a large scale and marketing their dahlias to our customers all over the U.S. For every Legacy dahlia you purchase from Triple Wren Farms, a portion of that sale goes back to the original hybridizer every year, from every sale. We have worked hard to provide the hybridizers represented in our Legacy Collection with fair compensation for their craft, and have freed them up from the task of producing large, salable quantities of their varieties so that they can focus on creating the spectacular dahlias we all love and enjoy.
We’re also looking for new hybridizers to add to our program in future years. We want to preserve the legacy of dahlia creations from the past, and inspire a future success for new growers.
