Seedling to Market: A Guide for New Dahlia Creators by Sarah Pabody
For nearly a decade, Steve and I have worked with dahlia creators to bring hundreds of new varieties to market through Triple Wren Farms. Along the way, we’ve evaluated seedlings, multiplied stock, marketed and sold tubers, shipped thousands and thousands of them into gardens, and learned a tremendous amount about what it takes to introduce a new dahlia well.
In Seedling to Market, I take that experience and turn it into a practical roadmap for other creators.
The book walks through the process from evaluating a promising seedling and deciding whether it is ready to introduce, through multiplication, pricing, market fit, business preparation, marketing, selling, shipping, and customer care.
My hope is that it helps new dahlia creators see a clearer path forward, whether they plan to introduce their own varieties independently or work in partnership with a farm that already knows how to grow, sell, and distribute dahlia tubers.
More than anything, I would love to see this book help inspire new partnerships between creators and farms around the world. Building something like that can feel overwhelming, and I hope Seedling to Market demystifies the pathway and sheds light on what it can look like.
My hope is that more good community will flourish between the people who create beautiful dahlias, the farms that can help bring them to market, and the people who will eventually grow and love them.
