I took a long walk in the sunshine today, looking at the many signs that winter is nearly over. Spring is just around the corner! I spent some extra time lingering around two areas that are fairly empty right now, dreaming about this summer.

One holds this fascinating long-needle pine and other beautiful evergreens, and one is quietly waiting for its enormous maples to leaf out and create a magical canopy, but I imagined them both full of laughing, warm-hearted people. One will harbor a fleet of our glamping tents this summer, and I tried to envision new friendships forming over coffee by the campfire, new dreams being hatched as guests fall asleep at the quiet edge of the flower fields after a full day of Flower Camp. The other spot will hold our new Gathering Place (open farm welcome center, fresh workshop space, field office, farm dining space, and more!), and I imagined families, flowers, and folk music spilling out of every corner.

My heart is FULL of joy at the prospect of welcoming more friends to the farm in this new decade, and perhaps YOU will be able to pay us a visit, too. We’ve got a great lineup of events and workshops listed over on our website, (and one more event to announce this Saturday 2/22!) so please take a peek and see what might work for you. P.S. I’ve got roses ???? on my brain today besides all my excitement over this coming year’s events. We are planning to offer cuttings from thornless rosehips (like the gold and red ones I’m holding above) at our plant sale on May 9; I pruned about a quarter of our summer cut flower roses today (look at those thorns below!), and we’re preparing to plant about 500 more plants in the next few weeks. We are really adding COLOR this year! Beautiful ruffled coral/salmon roses, moody honey dijons and koko loko, and ombré distant drums that always make me think of unicorns! We’ll probably have extras to sell of everything, including any dahlia tubers that don’t make it into our fields, so that’s definitely a don’t-miss event! ????
