If you’ve ever grown a fantastic dahlia from seed, you’ve probably wished you could share it with the whole world! It’s fun to give tubers of your creations to your gardening friends, but wider distribution… can be challenging.
At Triple Wren, we’ve cracked the code on sharing big numbers of beautiful dahlias, and I’m here to tell you today:
The secret to sharing your dahlia with the world isn’t necessarily growing hundreds of dahlias, gathering lots of interested customers, figuring out shipping, or handling customer service! Instead, you could partner with an expert!

Authors don’t usually edit, typeset, or publish their books, because they specialize in creating. Songwriters don’t usually record, mix, or produce their songs for the same reason. Similarly, plant hybridizers have a highly specific, creative skillset that makes them unique.
Our culture often applauds the jack- or jill-of-all-trades, and many entrepreneurs thrive on the adrenaline rush that comes with wearing all the hats for their small business, but that DIY, bootstrapping beginning isn’t sustainable over time, You’ll find that the most successful, most distributed artists and creators rely on a team of experts to help them reproduce their work, market it, sell it, and distribute it. In exchange for allowing their work to be distributed, the creator receives royalties on the copies that are sold.

We’ve developed three programs to help 1. Absolute beginner, 2. Novice distributors, and 3. Experienced expert dahlia hybridizers share the beauty of their creations with gardeners all over the U.S. and Canada. We have relationships with our hybridizers, and pay them royalties for all the ”copies” (tubers and rooted cuttings) of their creations we sell. We see dahlia hybridizers as creators, and believe they deserve the same kinds of compensation as other creators.
If you’re a hybridizer, we’d love the opportunity to help you. Applications for our Novice Hybridizer “Class of 2025” are open from September 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024. If you’re interested in joining us this year, and have a specific questions, please send us an email. We’d love to help you share your dahlias with the world!
