How will this change me?

The blueberries are leafing out, and we’ll have fruit in just about three months. The plums and daffodils are blooming, apples and lilacs will flower before we know it.

I never imagined the deep uncertainty and amount of sheer work that is on our shoulders in this particular season. Some moments it feels like too heavy of a weight to me. But as the world around us unfolds in loveliness, slowly, surely, gradually, relentlessly, so we too are determined to keep taking steps forward. We’ll keep doing the next thing, and by and by the pressure will ease. The packages will all be shipped, the messages will all be answered, the decisions will be made, the schooling will be done, the Crew will all be back, the fields will be planted.

I don’t for a minute believe everything will ever be the same, but hopefully we will make it through the most intense pressure better for the experience. I hope that I’ll be more humble, more patient, more hopeful, more thankful, more generous, more faith-full, as I keep doing the next best thing through life’s seasons, no matter what comes along.
